Who We Are
Our market started as a "pop-up” Saturday market in the spring of 2018. Sharon Moxon sold coffee and Sweet Marie bars and Sharn Ranu-Johnson sold chai tea and scones. Soon other neighbours joined the two at the top of Gambier Harbour Dock. Sharon and Sharn began this venture as a venue for local home based businesses, an opportunity for commerce, and most importantly, to build and increase a strong sense of community on Gambier Island.
Since 2020, the market on Gambier Island has morphed into a “crawl” to be able to safely distance during the COVID 19 pandemic. At present, vendors sell their wares, food and locally made, baked, and grown goods from their drive ways, or local park space such as Anavets Park and the top of Gambier Harbour Dock. |
Locals and their guests are welcome to walk the mile long trek from the Grassy Trail in Gambier Harbour, past Sylvie's food and ice cream, Lena's jewelry, Sharnie and Bill's Art, chai tea and beer, Nancy's flowers, along Dulcie Road and the Woodshed, and to the top of Shawanabe Road. There may also be other vendors at the top of Gambier Harbour Dock on Gambier Rd, and at Anavets Parks. We are recommending more walking and less driving this year as the market's popularity has increased. Everyone is welcome to take part.
