A little note of remembrance of one of our beloved market members who passed away earlier this year. Nancy was as bright and cheerful as her flower arrangements. She was a valued and most loved member of our island community and a keen supporter.
Nancy "lovey", you are so missed.

Saturdays 10am-1pm (starting Victoria Day Long weekend)

2023 Market crawl in the Southwest Peninsula of Gambier Island, Howe Sound, British Columbia, Canada

Supporting Local Gambier Island Businesses:
Bakers, Farmers, Artists, Artisans & More!

Who we Are?

We are a collection of neighbours from all parts of Gambier Island, a wilderness community, twenty minutes from Vancouver (as the crow flys) in Howe Sound, selling wares: farmed food, art, and food for purchase.

Since 2020, the market on Gambier Island has morphed into a “crawl” to be able to safely distance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The crawl idea has stood the test of time and community and is a favourite to continue. It is a unique and only market crawl of it's kind in the BCAFM membership.

This year the market will continue on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm. The crawl starts on the road from New Brighton along to Gambier Harbour. Vendors will be set up at the end of their driveways, or at the Anavets Park, or at the top of Gambier Harbour dock, and along the road to Avalon Bay through Gambier Harbour. Boat access is at Gambier Harbour dock. Everyone is welcome to take part, even well behaved dogs on leash are welcome!

Supporting Local
Business & Artisans

There are no stores on Gambier but lots of residents live on island year-round both part time and full time. The need for commerce and an opportunity to buy and sell on island is an increasingly growing demand, and an essential service for the community. The advent of the market has increased local farming and home based businesses as an added bonus.
Today the Gambier Island Farmers’ Market is run by the Gambier Island Farmers Market Society (GIFMS) and involves many local farmers, food vendors, artisans, artists, food artists, and many more, supporting local economies and opportunities to work from home, and sharing their passions.
